The Pig in Chinese Zodiac

The Legend of the Pig

The Great Race

According to Chinese legend, the Jade Emperor organized a race to determine the order of the zodiac animals. The Pig, though not the fastest animal, was determined to participate in the race.

On the day of the race, the Pig overslept due to its lazy nature. Then, during the race, it became hungry and stopped to eat, and later felt tired so it took a nap. After waking up, the Pig continued the race and finally crossed the finish line as the twelfth and last animal, securing the final position in the zodiac.
